Text of problem #16 on my 10-year-old son’s math homework tonight:
Seventeen fourth-grade students sing in the school chorus. At performances they stand on risers. Each riser holds a group of 9 students. How many groups can stand on one riser?
Uh… one?

Ah ha! It’s a trick question!
The answer is 0. Due to the poor management of public education in America, and the subsequent federal and local budget cuts and misappropriation of funds for education, the school chorus has been discontinued.

Sadly, that is true at the kids’ school. Also: they get art for only two months a year, phys ed for two months, and computers for two months. Our school can’t afford to educate for the WHOLE school year.

Maybe we need a 700Billion dollar education bailout?
